The Perfect ‘Timeless’ Light Green Paint Color

So…I changed the color in our multipurpose room! I know, I know—why, Valeria? Why are you re-painting again? Well, let’s keep it simple: first, I don’t like to settle for something unless I truly love it; and second, I love change. When I have a new idea, I want to try it out.

As I mentioned on my Instagram, right after painting this room blue a bit over two years ago, it never quite felt right. This room faces northwest, so it always gets cool-toned daylight with a blue cast. According to Google, blue is not the best color for a north-facing room, and now, after some trial and error, I totally agree. The room always felt dark and sad most of the day—except for a couple of hours in the afternoon when the sun would shine through the living room window.

The New Color

After two years of overthinking and multiple paint samples, I finally decided to go with the color I should have picked from the beginning: a shade of green. I ordered some peel-and-stick samples from Samplize—which, by the way, I love! I can peel and stick these around the room, and it’s so much easier than going to the paint store and buying sample jars. It’s less messy and wasteful, plus I can save them for future projects. I spent over a month just staring at these samples and narrowing down my options. My top two choices were Lichen and French Gray, both by Farrow & Ball.

Trying the color options in different light.

At first, I thought I wanted Lichen, and I even got it. But after applying the primer coat on the built-ins, I immediately felt like I should go with a lighter color. So, I changed my mind, went back to Farrow & Ball with my unopened cans of Lichen, and exchanged it for French Gray. And the rest is history. It’s the PERFECT soft green color—timeless, elegant, and gorgeous!

Now, I know you're going to ask about the Murphy bed, and I’m overdue for a blog post about this DIY project. I promise it’s coming soon-ish! For now, here are some recent photos of the room with the new color. What do you think?
